Computer Maintenance

We all know and accept that we have to maintain our cars to ensure that they are
running nicely, but we often ignore that a computer needs the same attention.
Computers are an important part of our lives and to deprive them of computer
maintenance is only going to cause errors in the future.

You can keep a computer running like new if you care for your computer the right way with regular maintenance. Computers only run slower as they age because they have not been maintained properly.

Does your computer look like this on the inside

Do you realize that having a clean computer is a necessity for the system to run at
its optimal best? Having dust and dirt build up inside your computer can restrict the airflow and cause overheating problems, that can cause serious damage to your components inside your computer.

power supply dust on fan

power supply dust blocked vents

This is an example of dust that built up on the cooling fan of a graphics card. The fan stopped working, the graphics card over heated and stopped working. The computer would not start up because of this, and the graphics card had to be replaced.

This is dust built-up in the front of the computer behind the front cover. Air flows from the front of the computer to the back of the computer. Air flow is important to help keep the computer cool. If the air flow is reduced the computer runs at hotter temperatures. Heat can damage components inside the computer.

This is dust built up on the cooling fan on the back of the computer. Dust builds up unevenly causing one side to be heavier than the other. This wears down the bearings on the fan and over time it becomes very noisy and need to be replaced. Vents can become blocked reducing airflow.

This is dust built up on the heat sink that sits on top of the processor. When this becomes block it reduces the cooling effect of the fan causing the processor to overheat. This  can cause the computer to randomly shut down.

This is rust on the heat sink that sits on the processor. The dust traps moisture and when left long enough it will cause rust, and will need to be replaced.

This is the dust built up on the fan for the power supply. Dust builds up unevenly causing one side to be heavier than the other. This wears down the bearings on the fan and over time it becomes very noisy and need to be replaced. Vents can become blocked reducing airflow.

This is dust built up on the cooling vents for the power supply. When these vents become blocked they reduce the air flow through the power supply. When this happens the power supply will eventually overheat and will stop working.
